Garnock Academy
Dear Parent,
Garnock Academy Educational Trust was set up in 1998 by the School Board and Parent Teachers Association to raise extra funds for the school. The intention was, and is, to buy additional materials not normally provided by the local authority, to help improve the education or working environment of all pupils.
The Trust is a registered charity which allows it to claim back tax on any money donated to it by taxpayers. For example, a gift of £10 per year for four years would give the school a total of £52 once tax is reclaimed. Currently (October 2003) there is a total of £2300 being gifted to the Trust by Parents and friends of the school.
Pupils will be asked how they would like to see any funding raised spent to improve their time at Garnock. This has already been discussed at the pupil council, and some interesting ideas have been suggested.
A fair number of parents have already made the commitment to contribute and we are now looking for your support. This is entirely for the benefit of pupils in school.
If you would like to help, there is a donation form attached to this letter which may be returned to the school office at any time. Alternatively, the form is available from the school website (www.garnockacademy.ore.uk) under the heading "Garnock Academy Educational Trust" and may be printed off from there.
If you would like any further information, please contact any member of the Trust, listed below.
Yours sincerely
Ian Broughton Chairman, GAET.
