After Garnock I spent far too long as a student at Aberdeen University where I got a Phd. After this I worked in Glasgow University as a research fellow at Yorkhill childrens hospital for a couple of years. Then moved back to Aberdeen and I am now a research scientist at the Rowett Research Institute in Aberdeen working on childrens nutrition.

When the School opened, I was in the 2nd Year, my 1st year was spent at Central School in Kilbirnie. I lived in the  former Headmaster's house for Ladyland School.  Many people believed quite wrongly that the house was connected with Garnock Academy.  My name at School was Robert K Wilson, so that they could tell me apart from the Robert Wilson from Beith.  Some members of Staff also lived with my family and myself in the big house; 1972-75

Have worked in marketing for the pharmaceutical industry ever since - first in and around London, then Sydney, Australia (2000-2001) before returning to the UK, and spending three years in Chester. Left the UK again in 2005 for Singapore and am now Regional Director, Asia Pacific in Hong Kong for a medical-marketing agency serving the global pharmaceutical industry. 1986-1991
